Assist maintenance workers with maintenance of vehicle fleet, trailers, and lawn equipment. Assist with vehicle, trailer and lawn equipment maintenance, by replacing worn and faulty parts, disassembling faulty equipment to facilitate repair and reassembling once repairs are completed. Clean and lubricate vehicles, machinery, snow and lawn equipment. Provide tools, materials, and supplies to maintenance workers, clean work area, machines, and tools. Organize supplies and inventory. The vehicles, machinery, and equipment referenced above include landscaping trailers; lawn mowers (walk-behind, stand-on, and zero-turn); string trimmers; hedge trimmers; leaf blowers; chainsaws; snow blowers; and similar small gas powered landscaping equipment; and skid steers (cleaning and greasing only). The employee assists maintenance workers by performing routine preventative maintenance and cleaning to remove dirt, grass, mud, and debris. Duties include changing engine oil on lawn mowers, snow blowers, and other small-engine gas powered equipment; replacing spark plugs on lawn equipment; performing basic tune-ups; cleaning equipment and trailers with a pressure washer, brushes, shop rags, and hand tools; applying grease with a grease gun to Zerk fittings on skid steers and other equipment; cleaning and preparing equipment for daily use or seasonal storage; inspecting equipment for cleanliness and operational readiness; organizing equipment, supplies, and inventory; and performing minor adjustments and routine maintenance on landscaping equipment. Tools and materials used include pressure washers, basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and pliers), grease guns, engine oil, lubricants, spark plugs, cleaning supplies, brushes, and shop rags. Maintenance helpers will not perform any work on diesel engines.
