The Maintenance Project Assistant is responsible for performing construction of moveable custom "pit walls" that will need to be assembled and disassembled depending on special events. Job will occasionally require construction of a three-tier champion podium. The facility itself may need already installed temporary half walls moved or temporarily disassembled to support additional capacity or viewing requirements for special events. Special events may call for temporary modification of fitting room or walkway walls/doors to improve flow of patrons/competitors. The old building in which the training facility operates is an old auto shop with spontaneous minor facility upkeep issues needing someone with the skillset to prevent exorbitant costs and accommodate excessive usage during the events. The worker will be required to utilize a company credit card and vehicle to purchase/pick up equipment (framing materials, sheetrock/drywall supplies, various hand tools) from hardware store if not purchased in advance by the employer. Worker needs knowledge of measuring, (framing as needed), plaster application/use, and sheetrock installation (or fastening soft martial arts mats to pit walls/half walls). Employee may need to cut (with sharp blade) sheets of drywall to fit the particular space in which it is being utilized. They can (preferably) use manual means to apply plaster/joint compound on tape to improve appearance of completed construction and surface. The employee is authorized to utilize PPE as necessary to protect their skin, eyes, etc. Worker will perform assembly of "structural components" such as/not limited to; half walls, pit walls, seating and podiums that would require minimum of 400# support for champions to stand on. Reconstruction of the front entry/desk/doorway/office space to accommodate our growing business and flow of patrons on a regular basis. Basic fixture assembly may include weight fixtures such as a dumbbell tree or cable machine or even simple storage shelf for patrons' gear. The Employee will support the Business Area Manager and skilled tradespersons in the execution of seasonal property renovations and facility upkeep. The role focuses on providing technical assistance during maintenance, construction or repair projects, managing job-site logistics and supplies, and performing preparatory and finishing tasks for renovations. Key Responsibilities: • Project Support: Assist in assessing project sites for seasonal needs; provide manual support to senior staff during facility inspections and measurements. • Supply Logistics: Facilitate the procurement process by transferring tools, parts, and equipment to workstations; monitor inventory of construction supplies and notify management of low stock. • Preparation & Site Maintenance: Prepare work areas for renovation by applying protective coverings (tape/plastic); clean and lubricate tools and machinery to ensure operational readiness. • Assisted Execution: Provide hands-on assistance during minor cosmetic updates, including holding materials for tile installation, prepping surfaces for sheetrock/drywall repair, and performing basic interior painting. • Technical Aid: Assist skilled workers with the assembly of structural components and the connection of basic fixtures using hand and power tools under direct supervision. Travel and equipment transport is required in company vehicles from the company's headquarters in 6008 Mission Gorge Rd Ste. A, San Diego, California to Storage Units in East County - San Diego & North County - San Diego. Approx. 5-10 times per project.
