Responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding residential or commercial buildings. Workers will be using hand tools such as shovels, wheelbarrows, tampers, mallets, and levels to assist with the installation of retaining walls. No use of mortar will be needed to install retaining walls. Perform landscaping maintenance activities using equipment such as lawn mowers and edgers. Install plant materials; mow and edge lawns. Maintain and care for established lawns. Assist with installation of retaining walls, outdoor equipment, rock gardens and decks. Workers will perform landscaping and groundskeeping duties for residential properties. Duties include mowing, edging, trimming, planting, watering, mulching, weeding, debris removal, and general grounds maintenance using lawn mowers, edgers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows. Workers will create and maintain rock gardens by clearing and preparing designated areas, digging, building berms as needed, transporting and distributing rocks, soil, mulch, and plant materials, and installing edging and ground cover. Tools and equipment used include shovels and wheelbarrows. Materials include rocks, soil, mulch, and plant stock. Workers will assist with the installation of retaining walls by preparing and grading the work area, excavating and leveling wall footprints, transporting and positioning wall materials, backfilling completed sections, and compacting soil and aggregate. Tools and equipment used include shovels, wheelbarrows, levels, measuring tapes, tampers, and rubber mallets. Materials include retaining wall blocks, aggregate base materials, soil, and backfill materials. Workers will prepare sites for patio installations by excavating and grading areas, backfilling and leveling limestone chips, compacting the base, setting patio stones, and restoring surrounding landscape areas with sod. Tools and equipment used include shovels, wheelbarrows, levels, measuring tapes, tampers, and rubber mallets. Materials include limestone chips, patio stones, and sod. Workers will assist with the installation of outdoor landscape features, including water features, fire pits, and landscape lighting. Duties for water features include excavating ponds and streambeds, shaping ground contours, installing waterproof liners, positioning pumps and hoses, and placing rocks and ground cover around completed features. Duties for fire pits include preparing the site, digging trenches for gas lines, positioning fire pit components, and restoring surrounding landscape areas. Duties for landscape lighting include digging shallow trenches, burying electrical wire, connecting landscape lighting fixtures, and installing control timers. Licensed electricians and plumbers perform all required electrical and gas-line connections. Tools and equipment used include shovels, wheelbarrows, measuring tapes, wire stripping tools, and wire nuts. Materials include waterproof pond liners, water pumps, hoses, fire pit components, electrical wire, dielectric waterproof wire nuts, landscape lighting fixtures, rocks, soil, and mulch. Workers will also assist with deck installation by preparing and grading the work area, moving and staging deck materials, measuring layout areas, assisting with placement and alignment of deck components, restoring surrounding landscape areas, and performing final site cleanup.
