Workers obtain raw oysters from the conveyor system located at their individual shucking stations. The conveyor continuously supplies product to each station for processing as part of the normal production workflow. The workers perform the shucking and processing duties using shucking knives, culling irons to open the oyster to be frozen. The oysters enter a freezer tunnel on a conveyor belt and after the oysters are frozen, they exit the tunnel on a conveyor belt and are then placed in packaging using their hands. Shovels and washing brushes are used for processing area cleanup. All required PPE equipment is provided for the worker. Obtain and distribute sacks of oysters; dumps oysters in shell stock area. Workers will wash, sort and place oysters still in the shell in bags and boxes. Workers will shuck oysters by holding the oyster firmly, forcing knife between halves of shell at hinge juncture. Twists knife to sever muscles holding shell together and pries open. Will shuck off the top shell and leave the oyster meat attached to the bottom shell or cut the whole oyster from shell, discards shell. Wash, sort, freeze and place processed meat in containers for further processing or sale. Assist with cleaning plant at end of shift. Piece rate may be offered; rate is determined based on prevailing wage determination. No Experience/No educ. 21 days on the job training provided. See attached Addendum
