***2nd RFI response*** The worker assists with the placement of reinforcing steel, rebar, and wire mesh used in concrete construction projects. Specific tasks include carrying, unloading, staging, sorting, positioning, and placing rebar and wire mesh within forms and excavated areas; holding materials in place while experienced workers secure them; measuring and aligning reinforcing materials according to layout instructions; and assisting with tying reinforcing steel using pre-cut tie wire. Tools and equipment used include rebar tying tools, pliers, wire cutters, measuring tapes, levels, rebar chairs, spacers, wheelbarrows, material carts, and hand tools commonly used to position reinforcing materials. Materials handled include reinforcing steel bars (rebar), welded wire mesh, tie wire, rebar chairs, spacers, and related concrete reinforcement materials. ***1st RFI response*** The worker assists experienced construction workers, concrete finishers, equipment operators, and supervisors engaged in the installation of swimming pools, driveways, sidewalks, patios, walkways, and related concrete structures. The worker may operate plate compactors, concrete mixers, power wheelbarrows, material carts, water pumps, pressure washers, portable generators, small power tools (drills, grinders, routers), shovels, rakes, brooms, wheelbarrows, buckets, tampers, hand floats, measuring tapes, and levels. Duties include loading, unloading, moving, and staging construction materials; assisting with site preparation, excavation, grading, backfilling, and cleanup; constructing, placing, bracing, stripping, and removing concrete forms; assisting with the placement of reinforcing steel, rebar, and wire mesh; transporting tools, equipment, and materials; assisting with concrete placement, spreading, consolidation, and finishing under supervision; holding and positioning materials; cleaning and maintaining tools, equipment, forms, and work areas; removing debris, excess concrete, and waste materials; and assisting with final grading and site restoration. The worker uses equipment to compact soil and aggregate base materials, mix concrete and mortar, transport concrete and construction materials, assist with concrete placement, remove water from excavated areas, maintain worksite conditions, and support concrete, pool, driveway, sidewalk, patio, and walkway construction projects. Materials handled include concrete, gravel, sand, crushed stone, rebar, wire mesh, lumber forms, PVC pipe, pool construction materials, backfill materials, and related construction supplies. ***Original*** Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers.
