Perform manual labor associated with commercial oyster harvesting and aquaculture operations. Harvest oysters from public waters and privately leased grounds using hand tools and equipment. Cull oysters to meet legal size requirements; sort and grade oysters by size and quality; clean oysters by removing mud, shells, and marine growth; and transplant oysters onto designated lease areas or bedding sites to promote growth and production. Load, unload, and handle materials and equipment, including oyster sacks, baskets, cages, dredges, and other gear. Stack, move, and secure harvested product and supplies. Handle lines and assist with vessel docking, anchoring, and navigation-related tasks as directed. Wash down decks, holds, and equipment to maintain sanitary and safe working conditions. Perform maintenance of privately leased oyster grounds, including driving and installing cane poles or markers, placing and distributing cultch (such as oyster shell or crushed concrete) to promote oyster set, repositioning materials, and assisting with bedding operations. Conduct routine inspections of lease areas to monitor oyster growth, condition, and environmental factors, and report any issues. Perform routine, incidental maintenance and upkeep of vessels, docks, and equipment, including cleaning, scraping, painting, and replacing worn lines or materials. Perform minor, non-mechanical tasks to maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in proper working condition. Follow all applicable safety procedures and federal and state regulations related to oyster harvesting operations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may require prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and carrying heavy loads. Wage: Basic wage rate is $25.79/hr. An overtime premium at the rate of, $38.69/hr., will be paid when required by Federal, State, or local law, including at time-and-a-half after 40 hours in a work week. The employer may offer raises/bonuses to temporary employees hired under this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors such as performance, skill, and job tenure. Wages will be calculated based on a single workweek. Employees will be paid biweekly. Schedule: Shifts may vary, but an average scheduled workday can be from 7AM to 3PM, Mon-Fri. May be required to work extended hours and weekends as needed. The expected work schedule is approximately 35 hours per week. The employer may offer more hours than specified, depending on company needs, and other conditions. On-the-job training is available. The employer will provide daily transportation to and from the work site at no cost to the worker. Use of transportation is voluntary. Employer provides daily transportation between work sites.
