***RFI response*** This duty involves maintaining the grounds and outdoor surfaces of open-air quarry storage areas. Specifically, Groundskeepers will sweep and rake dirt, dust, and loose debris from the ground surfaces of storage areas; remove litter, brush, and waste materials that accumulate in and around storage areas; clear overgrown vegetation, weeds, and brush from around the perimeters of storage areas to keep them clean and accessible; and rake dirt ground surfaces within storage areas. Tools and equipment used to perform these tasks include brooms, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and trash receptacles. ***Original*** Maintain and prepare grounds of the property of stone quarry clients to prepare quarry sites for the upcoming busy season, to provide groundskeeping services during winter weather events, and to prepare quarry grounds for land reclamation. Groundskeepers will perform a variety of tasks, which may include a combination of the following: Clear brush, cut grass and weeds, and remove vegetation from quarry grounds to prepare new areas for the next quarrying season; Gather and remove litter, debris, and waste materials from quarry grounds; Prepare soil and spread topsoil on reclamation areas to support revegetation; Plant native grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation on quarry grounds as part of land reclamation efforts; Water, mulch, and maintain newly planted vegetation to promote establishment and growth; Clean and organize quarry storage areas and areas where stone will be stored; Prepare grounds and maintain safe site conditions in response to winter weather events, including shoveling snow, de-icing grounds, dirt roads, and dirt paths within quarry grounds through use of water and salt; Clear debris and standing water from quarry grounds, dirt roads, and dirt paths within the quarry following heavy rainfall or flooding events to maintain safe site conditions; Preserve and protect exposed stockpiles and quarry materials during severe weather by covering or relocating vulnerable materials; and Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, snow blowers, or chain-saws. Driver's license is not required; however, if a Groundskeeper has a regular driver's license, then that Groundskeeper may drive a crew vehicle to client locations.
