  Industrial Truck and Tractor Operator–5 temporary full-time positions available from 10/1/2026 to 1/31/2027 in Thibodaux, LA w/Lafourche Sugars, LLC. Help production workers by performing duties requiring less skill. Duties include supplying material and moving materials to proper destination. Workers will move harvested sugar cane, brought from farmers, from the dump area to mill for processing. Will either load feed table for mill processing as cane has been delivered or stack it for later feeding. Operate a tractor (front loader tractor) at mill yard bringing harvested sugar cane from where farmer has dumped the cane to location at factory to begin manufacturing process. Operates front loader tractor in mill yard only and it is never used on public streets. Mill receives an estimate of 12,000 tons of harvested sugar cane/day. The farmers' trucks are weighed and then dumped in a designated location where then the operators move harvested cane to mill, which all happens in immediate vicinity of sugar mill. The process is a 24/7 operation during harvesting and manufacturing season of Louisiana sugar cane. Minor maintenance to payloader (tractor) may include checking fluid levels, filling w/fuel, checking oil level, and greasing of mechanical parts. Payloader tractor is cleaned by removing debris w/brooms, towels, water hose, or by hand daily. $19.99/Hr; $29.99/Hr OT (paid every 2 weeks by check). Will be required to work rotating 8-hour shifts including (6am-2pm; 2pm-10pm; 10pm -6am); 56 hrs a week during harvest season, 40 hrs a week after harvest season, OT paid after 48 hours during harvesting and after 40 hours after harvesting. Must be willing to work 7 days/wk. OT Hours will vary and are not guaranteed. Employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law. Worker will have 30 minutes paid lunch break during workday. A minimum of 3 months experience is required in job offered in a raw sugar mill. No minimum education is required. No on-the-job training is provided. Optional on-site lodging offered to each temporary seasonal employee hired in position at no charge. Lafourche will provide U.S. workers at least same benefits, wages, and working conditions that will be offered or provided to H-2B workers. Lafourche will provide to worker, w/out charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. Employer guarantees to offer employment equal to at least three-fourths (3/4's) of the workdays of each 12-week period of total employment period; and, if guarantee is not met, the employer will pay worker what worker would have earned if employer had offered guaranteed number of days. 12-week period will begin first workday after worker's arrival or advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later. Worker will be reimbursed for transportation and subsistence expenses from place from which worker has come to work for employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to place of employment by check by employer upon completion of 50% of the period of employment covered by job order or earlier, if appropriate. This includes at least $16.78/day during travel to a max of $68.00/day w/documentation of actual expenses. Employer will provide or pay for worker's outbound transportation and subsistence if worker completes job order period or is dismissed early from employment for any reason by employer before end of the period. Employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek the full cost for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the gov’t. Lafourche will provide or reimburse inbound and outbound transportation and daily subsistence costs for corresponding U.S. workers who are not reasonably able to return to their residence w/in same workday. As applicable, daily transportation to and from worksite will be provided by employer. Higher pay may be available to workers w/extensive experience.
