Workers will perform a combination of hunting guide, lodge support, food service, game processing, groundskeeping, and maintenance duties at a hunting lodge. Hunting guide duties include preparing hunting vehicles by cleaning and stocking vehicles with beverages, ice, fuel, oil, water, dogs, and necessary hunting supplies; transporting guests to and from hunting fields; ensuring hunters have required safety orange apparel, hunting gear, and ammunition; providing safety instruction prior to hunts; guiding hunters on foot through fields to locate birds; handling and directing pointing and flushing dogs during hunts; instructing hunters on proper and safe shooting practices; locating, counting, carrying, and transporting harvested quail and other fowl from fields to cleaning areas; assisting guests with post-hunt activities including photographs and cleaning guest firearms; and maintaining professional appearance in guide uniforms. Workers will also maintain hunting fields by transporting water with carts and trailers, collecting spent shotgun hulls from fields, maintaining sporting clays courses, cleaning range firearms, washing sporting clay carts with hose and rag, filling clay target machines, restocking clay targets, and monitoring inventory of birds, ammunition, clay targets, and beverages for reporting to management. Food service and kitchen duties include cleaning and sanitizing food preparation equipment, kitchen work areas, dining areas, counters, and tables; restocking and rotating food and kitchen supplies; labeling and dating food items stored in coolers; preparing, cooking, grilling, frying, and serving foods including sandwiches, soups, salads, meats, eggs, pancakes, breads, desserts, coffee, and tea; planning and coordinating food preparation to ensure timely service; taking customer orders and preparing foods according to customer requirements; stocking shelves and ordering supplies as needed; and performing general kitchen and dining area cleaning duties. Game processing duties include plucking and cleaning quail and other fowl, removing inedible portions, packaging and vacuum sealing cleaned birds, freezing packaged products, moving product to storage areas, maintaining accurate counts of processed birds, disposing of trash and waste materials, and cleaning and maintaining all related worksites, tools, and equipment. Additional lodge and property maintenance duties include replacing and inventorying air filters in cottages, making minor repairs to cottages and lodge facilities using hand tools, cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment.
