As included on the ONET website for 39-9032.00 (Recreation Workers), the summer camp counselors are to perform a variety of tasks/duties on behalf of school aged children (5 - 12 years old) at offsite recreational facilities, such as parks, aquatic centers, museums. Counselors will encourage good behavior and maintain order by supervising children to ensure they are following the rules and regulations of the recreational facilities and are always safe. Counselors will complete and maintain time and attendance forms/inventory lists and ensure all children are accounted for when onboarding/offboarding bus transportation to and from recreational facilities. Offsite days are typically Monday-Thursday with special guests coming onsite on Fridays. During Friday, Counselors will continue to ensure to maintain order and safety of their charges and guide them in the activities planned by the guest. Assistants will help children open and/or serve them the prepacked meals and snacks parents have provided them for summer camp and ensure appropriate water/fluid intake through the day’s activities. Counselors will administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
