The Tasting Room Sales Associate is the first point of contact for our guests with focus on the guest experience and education. Job duties include: Help create an exceptional experience for winery guests by sharing information and answering questions about winery and the wines. Welcome guests by greeting them upon entry to the tasting area. Help pour tasting samples of wines according to established procedures. Guide guests through the tasting experience and describe tasting notes. Offer wine pairing recommendations. Educate guests on the winery, its winegrowing practices, winemaking techniques, and wine vintages. Maintain working knowledge of rotating tap and bottled wines. Assist with monitoring and controlling wine and merchandise inventory for the tasting area to help ensure accurate recordkeeping. Maintain up-to-date product and pricing information in the POS system. Effectively suggest and sell wine with the aim to “up-sell” when possible. Handle routine point-of-sale (POS) transactions using POS equipment and software which includes operating the cash register, processing returns, discounts, etc. Assist with set up and breakdown of tasting space for each shift. Assist with daily opening and closing of the Tasting Room. Assist with special events as needed. Check identification as required by law to verify guests' age for serving alcoholic beverages. Perform other similar, related job duties as needed.
