Operate compactors and trenchers to prepare subgrade and backfill around pool shells and decking areas. Perform manual labor including shoveling, raking, loading/unloading materials, lifting up to 75 lbs, cleaning work areas, and assisting masons, plumbers, and finishers as directed by the foreman. Excavation Description: Typical swimming pool excavations range from 1 to 7 feet deep depending on design. Laborers assist in grading the pool base, forming walls, and shaping ledges and steps. Excavations for spas or deep-end pools may reach 10 feet at maximum depth. Trenching Details: Laborers dig trenches for plumbing, electrical conduit, and drainage systems. Trenches are dug using shovels, trenching spades, pickaxes, and trenching machines (e.g., Ditch Witch RT45). The largest trenches are typically 18 to 24 inches wide and up to 3 feet deep, depending on pipe layout and code requirements. The purpose of these trenches is to install suction and return lines, electrical conduit, gas lines, and drainage systems connected to pool equipment pads. Tools Used: Hand tools include shovels, rakes, picks, wheelbarrows, levels, and tampers. Power equipment includes plate compactors, skid steers, mini-excavators (see above), and concrete saws. Safety gear such as gloves, boots, and hard hats are required at all times. Additional Functions: Assist with setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, compacting soil, and maintaining a clean and safe job site. Follow instructions from the project foreman and ensure compliance with safety and construction standards. *Original Prepare and clean construction sites by removing debris, rocks, and obstructions.
