Perform a variety of attending duties at mobile amusement/carnival food concessions. Prepare and serve concession food and beverage items such as fried dough, fried Oreos, muffins, root beer floats, ice cream, and lemonade. Food preparation includes adding water to a pre-made mix and using an electric mixer to combine ingredients into a batter; batter is deep fried on its own or used to coat Oreos then deep fried. Fresh lemonade is prepared using a juicer to squeeze lemons then combining lemon juice with sugar and water into a beverage dispenser. Safely operates large-capacity cooking and service equipment such as deep-fat fryers, tea/coffee brewers, soft serve ice cream machine, and soda fountain machine. Replenish cups, napkins, straws, and other similar supplies as needed. Use basic cleaning supplies (i.e. dish soap, bleach, Windex) and proper safety and sanitary measures to clean surfaces, equipment, and supplies. Set up concession stand which may include manually unfolding a pop up canopy tent and anchoring attached aluminum poles into the ground with tent stakes (no tools required), placing folding tables in proper position according to specified layout, opening/closing awnings (by hand cranking, no tools required), plugging equipment into electrical outlets or extension cords. Tear down of concession stand which includes manually folding up pop up canopy tent and folding tables for storage and rolling up extension cords. Store all equipment and supplies in a specified manner for transportation. The employer will offer 40 hours of work per week. Hours, schedule and days vary – sample shift time 2pm-11pm, includes 1 hour unpaid break time. Extra hours may be required or available, may include weekends and holidays. Work needs (i.e., hours, days, schedule, location, and work positions) vary. Work needs subject to industry practice and are not guaranteed per day, per week, per schedule, per location, or per worker, e.g., rainouts, brief periods without scheduled events, event dates and hours set by agreement with sponsor and subject to change (based upon adverse weather, hours of operation, day of the week, attendance, size of the event, school schedules, amount of equipment in operation, staffing, etc.), and unforeseen cancellations. In the event of approved, overlapping events, work needs may cause workers to be adjusted. Pay varies based on location of each worksite, from $16.72 to $18.96 per hour. Employer reserves the option to provide additional compensation for performance and tenure or may increase wages based on changes in market conditions. No overtime is expected, but if work necessitating overtime occurs, it will be paid in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws. Local convenience travel (valued at $20 per week), and food available for wage credit and/or deduction, or any lesser amount to the maximum extent not prohibited by law. The employer will provide optional employee shared housing at no cost to the worker.
