Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools and equipment. Workers will perform tasks including sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, pruning, fertilizing, digging, raking, and the installation of landscape features such as retaining walls, walkways, fire pits, patios, water features, rock gardens, and planters using mortarless interlocking concrete masonry blocks, natural stone, and brick pavers. Tasks include preparing the site by digging, leveling, grading, and compacting soil or base material; placing and aligning blocks, pavers, or stones; backfilling and tamping; and cleaning and finishing the work area. Workers will use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, trowels, levels, wheelbarrows, hammers, pruning shears, and loppers, and will operate power equipment including cut-off saws, plate compactors, drills, skid steers, sod cutters, rototillers, mowers, tractors, electric clippers, and chainsaws. Duties also include gathering and removing litter; watering lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinklers, hoses, or watering cans; spraying or spreading commercial fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides with hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders; pruning shrubs, hedges, or ground-level trees; mulching, aerating, weeding, edging, and trimming around flower beds or walkways; planting seeds, bulbs, ground covers, grass, or shrubs; applying mulch for protection; and maintaining or winterizing irrigation systems. Workers will haul and spread topsoil or straw, rake and compost leaves, and ensure proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, and planters. Worker exposed to varying weather conditions, hot/cold temperatures and noise. Workers must wear common protective/safety equipment, follow instructions, and maintain tools and equipment in proper working order. Attention to detail, reliability, and cooperation necessary.
