- Offer description:
The Construction Laborer position is an entry-level helper role. Workers perform basic manual labor tasks under the close supervision of experienced crew members at grain bin construction sites, including farms, grain elevators, and co-ops in North Dakota. Work is outdoors on new bin installations and repairs; these are not industrial jobsites. Typical tasks include jobsite preparation by unloading from ground level, carrying materials and small parts by hand, placing items on the ground where directed, clearing debris, sweeping pads, and setting up ladders or basic, low scaffolding as directed. Helpers support assembly by holding parts in position while bolts are started, handing tools and bolts to crew members, inserting bolts, using hand tools and a handheld drill/impact driver under direction, and applying sealant where instructed. General labor includes carrying tools and hardware, fetching needed materials, keeping the site clean and orderly, assisting with simple measurements, and frequent shoveling to clear or backfill by hand. Hand tools may include a tape measure, level, wrench, socket set, chalk line, broom, shovel, and dollies. Light handheld power tools are limited to a cordless drill or impact driver used under supervision. Materials handled may include bin wall sheets, base rings, stiffeners, bolts, vents, flashing, and sealants. Helpers do not perform welding or cutting and do not operate cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, or other heavy machinery. No formal education or training is required. No prior experience is required beyond brief on-the-job safety and task orientation. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds; stand, bend, and carry materials for extended periods; work at heights using ladders as directed; and work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat. Employer provides tools and transportation to and from worksites. Overnight travel is required; employer covers lodging and meals during travel. Work hours begin at 6:30 a.m. and may extend into the evening; weekend work may be required. Reliable daily attendance is essential. No supervisory duties.
