May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers. Workers will use basic tools like tape measures, pencils, and paper for measurements of buildings, plus levels, chalk lines, and rafter squares for layout. Workers will clean up with their hands various debris at construction/job sites including but not limited to leaves, branches, shingle grit, dirt, rocks, old siding, nails, screws, wood and metal scraps, packaging materials, plastic, broken sheathing, and window/door trim ensuring the site is clear of sharp hazards, dust, and large pieces for a safe, clean finish. Workers may prepare surfaces, remove old siding, and install related components like fascia and gutters. Measure, cut, and shape siding, trim, and flashing to fit dimensions. Securely install siding, ensuring proper alignment, insulation, and waterproofing (caulking joints). Operate hand and power tools (saws, nailers, levels, drills, utility knives) and potentially operate lifts or scaffolding. Workers may also measure, cut, and assemble gutters and downspouts; secure components to buildings; ensure correct pitch for drainage. Clean gutters, repair damaged sections, replace old systems, and install gutter guards. Operate hand and power tools (saws, nailers, levels, drills, utility knives), caulking guns for fastening and sealing, and potentially operate lifts or scaffolding. Workers will not need to dig trenches. May assist other craft workers.
