Attends to overall care of racehorses, maintains stalls and tack; uses various types of bandages on horses; disinfects bedding and stalls, also cleans, trims and brushes the horses. Administers medicine as instructed and inspects and observes the horses' physical condition. Accompanies horses to racetrack or other places as needed. Responsible for the safety of the horses and nearby workers. Split shift required because of training and racing schedules 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. then 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Will be travel between racetracks in Kentucky and racetracks in New York. Days off Rotates. Employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. 1 mo. exp. req. Lift up to 50 lbs. Worksites: Keeneland Racetrack, 4201 Versailles RD, Lexington, KY 40510; Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. Workers will be paid weekly; the employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. The employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law but will make no other deductions. The racing facility will provide tack rooms to the workers at no cost. There is also a kitchen and laundry facilities provided for workers in the back area of the racing facility. This is not provided by the employer but by the racing facility. The employer will cover all visa expenses and travel. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most reasonable common carrier for the distance involved.
