***RFI response*** Perform manual labor tasks in support of sewer, water, and storm drain installations under the supervision of specialised workers. Duties include cleaning and preparing excavated trenches by removing loose soil and debris using shovels, brooms, and scrapers; manually moving and staging pipe sections around the worksite; guiding and steadying pipes as they are lowered into place by machinery or laser guidance equipment operated by specialized workers; and manually placing bedding materials (sand or gravel) around installed pipes and performing initial compaction using manual or pneumatic tampers. The worker also assists with basic finishing and site restoration tasks, such as roughly spreading wet concrete within forms using concrete rakes during sidewalk or pad pours, assisting with the placement and removal of wooden or metal forms, and performing site cleanup using industrial brooms, rakes, scrapers, and buckets to remove excess concrete, form materials, and general construction debris.The position does not involve skilled pipe laying, alignment, grading, concrete finishing, or operation of heavy machinery. ***Original*** Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, including operating hand and power tools, and assist with construction equipment. Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications. Assist with excavation work. Install sewer, water, or storm drain pipes, using pipe-laying machinery or laser guidance equipment. Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools. Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed. Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures. Load, unload, move, and distribute materials, tools, and equipment according to project plans. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. Assist craft workers such as carpenters, concrete workers, or pipefitters. Tend pumps, compressors, generators, or similar equipment to support site operations. Mix, pour, or spread concrete using portable mixers and hand tools; assist with basic finishing tasks. Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure safe site conditions.
