Oversee and direct landscaping crew members on job sites to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects. Read and interpret landscape plans, blueprints, and project specifications. Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, skid steers, and other machinery. Perform and supervise installation of hardscapes (pavers, retaining walls), softscapes (planting, mulching, sodding), and irrigation systems. Communicate project updates and potential issues to management and clients. Negotiate and review contracts to ascertain service, machine, and project requirements; answer inquiries from potential customers regarding tree care and landscaping services, methods, material, and price ranges; and prepare estimates according to labor, material, and machine costs. Establish and enforce operating procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and personnel safety. Schedule work for crews, depending on work priorities, crew or equipment availability, or weather conditions. Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained. Direct activities of workers who perform duties, such as landscaping, cultivating lawns, or pruning trees and shrubs. Oversee laborers in performing a wide range of tree care and grounds maintenance services, including pruning, trimming, raking, stump grinding, clearing, and chipping tree debris and disposing of tree debris. Supervise and train laborers in performing general landscaping and groundskeeping and landscape maintenance work.
