Employee will work as a Heavy Truck and Trailer Mechanic at the Employer's in-house shop in Fontana, California. The Employee will be responsible for performing preventative and general maintenance on Company's tractor-trailer truck fleet. Employee will work on Detroit "DD" unit, Cummins engines, and trailers. Specific duties will include: Performing preventative truck maintenance, including anticipating repairs before the parts, such as hoses or tires, need repair or replacement; Assisting drivers with troubleshooting failures on the road via phone; Performing oil changes; and Performing general truck maintenance (including working on engines, suspensions, transmissions, Diesel Particulate Filter systems, brakes, clutches, alternators, starters, and air conditioning systems). Employee will also perform vehicle inspections to ensure trucks are in working order, perform diagnostic/troubleshooting of mechanical issues, and perform subsequent repairs. Employee will be responsible for filling out U.S. Department of Transportation truck inspection forms every 90 days, and the annual attestation that Employee inspected the trucks and found them in good working order and/or all repairs were made.
