The Carpenter Helper, under the direction of the carpenter or the foreman, will gather and carry materials, measure, and cut materials, handling and placing metal mesh, dowel bars, reinforcing bars, and chairs. Additionally, the position involves a dynamic range of construction-related duties requiring the use or assistance of various tools and small equipment. The individual will operate air, gas, and electric tools, assist carpenters with materials and equipment as a Carpenter Helper, and perform caulking to seal joints and cracks. Assisting with compressors under 400 CFM and assisting concrete finishers are also part of the job. The role also includes assisting with the use of drilling equipment and utilizing electric drills. The responsibilities extend to assembling expansion joints in concrete forms, tamping forms to ensure solid skills, and executing general labor tasks. Additionally, the job requires using handheld vibrators to help settle concrete and walk-behind vibrating compacters to help settle grade. This role demands versatility and physical stamina, while assisting with the efficiency and safety of construction operations. The worker will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work area and clean equipment and installing temporary traffic control devices within the work area, as needed.
