  Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair trucks with diesel engines. Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance. Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts, such as bearings, pistons, and gears. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles. Overhaul and test major components, such as engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Adjust vehicle components according to specifications. Perform scheduled maintenance, such as changing oil, checking fluid levels, rotating tires, and cleaning and lubricating parts. Confer with customers or users to assess problems. Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair. Record details of repairs made and parts used. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary.
