Collaborate with crew leaders and members to assist in completing all aspects of roofing jobs assigned by the company, including tear-off, repair, installation, and other tasks as directed. Employees must be prepared to learn all aspects of the roofing jobs assigned to them. Employees must be on time for all shifts and ready to start at the designated time, equipped with all necessary personal tools and personal protective equipment. Employees will assist more experienced roofers with installing roofing materials at a quality that meets and exceeds roofing manufacturing standards. Employees will participate in training. Employees will participate in weekly safety meetings. Employees are required to attend all company-wide training events. Employees will participate in manufacturer-specific training for the system. Employees will clean up job sites daily to provide a safe and organized work environment. Employees will conduct all work securely, adhering to all relevant OSHA regulations and company policies. Assist roofing crews with all tasks related to tear-off, preparation, installation, repair, and cleanup of residential and commercial roofing systems. Duties include unloading, carrying, and staging shingles, underlayment, tools, ladders, and safety equipment; placing tarps and protective coverings; and helping set up fall-protection systems. Assist with tear-off by removing existing shingles, underlayment, flashings, vents, and related materials using roofing shovels, pry bars, hammers, and utility knives. Gather debris, load dumpsters, and keep the jobsite clean. Support experienced roofers by handing materials and tools, carrying bundles, and preparing work areas. Assist with roof deck preparation, including removing damaged sheathing and installing replacement decking as directed. Help apply underlayment, ice-and-water barrier, and moisture-protection materials by rolling out, cutting, and fastening under supervision. During installation, assist with layout, staging shingles or panels, handing fasteners and components to roofers, and supporting correct alignment using tape measures and chalk lines. Assist with installing flashings, drip edge, vents, ridge components, and pipe boots. For low-slope systems, assist with rolling out membrane sheets, applying adhesive, and securing edge metal as directed. Use standard roofing tools including roofing shovels, pry bars, hammers, screw guns, impact drivers, chalk lines, trowels, and magnetic sweepers. Work is performed under the supervision of a crew leader or experienced roofer and must comply with company safety rules, OSHA requirements, and manufacturer specifications. Skills required: Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in extreme temperatures; ability to stand on pitched roofing at 1-2 stories; ability to climb a ladder; experience operating pneumatic tools. Travel to job sites within the contiguous counties is within what is considered “normal” commuting distance, given the proximity of these areas. Most job sites are reachable within an hour's drive from Omaha, Nebraska. All applicants are informed of the locations where work may be performed, that transportation to jobsites may be provided by Weddle and Sons, Inc., and that workers will earn their hourly wage for all work performed.
