Duties may include: Start ice dispensing machine to begin ice production. Regulate machine flow, speed, and temperature. Stop, inspect, or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor. Position spouts or chutes to fill plastic bags full of ice. Operate foot pedal to release predetermined amount of ice into plastic bags. Place filled bag in secondary machine to tie, tape, staple, or seal closed. Load, unload, and stack finished ice bags from machines and place on pallet. Count finished ice bags to determine if orders are complete. Stretch wrap pallets for further processing or shipment. Transfer finished ice bags between work and storage areas, and delivery vehicles, by hand, pallet jack or powered lift. Replenish packaging supplies, such as plastic bags, ties, tape, staples, or fasteners. Clean and maintain machines and work area to ensure safety & other related Ice Packager activities as per SOC/OES 51-9111 (onetonline.org). Standard/Expected Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00AM-6:00PM. Offering 40+ (plus) hours per week; not including applicable lunch and/or breaks. Possible weekend/holiday work. Start/end times, offered hours and/or overtime could vary as they may be dependent upon other factors such as project/schedule/service needs, weather, and commute time between worksites (if applicable). Overtime possible, but not required or guaranteed. At Employer’s sole discretion: possible raises and/or bonuses based on individual factors such as work performance or skill (not guaranteed). Optional, shared housing available at no cost to the worker.
