Prepare, season, and cook dishes such as soups, salads, meats, vegetables, and/or desserts in the restaurant. Equipment includes basic kitchen ware/utensils as well as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Workers will clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, and ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock. Workers in the Cook position will wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption as well as weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Workers in the Cook position will also season and cook food according to recipes, turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking, and observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently. Prepare food for guests to order using a variety of equipment including gas ranges, flat tops, and fryers. Receive orders, stock and clean station, and maintain refrigeration, freezer, and dry storage inventory. Prepare foods for cooking using slicers, knives, and mixers. Use safe and sanitary food handling procedures. Maintains a clean work station, equipment, and kitchen.
