Duties: Front Desk personnel is responsible for greeting, registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room key or cards, transmitting and receiving messages, keeping records of occupied rooms and guests accounts, making and confirming reservations, and presenting statements to and collecting payments from departing guest; Verify customers' credit, contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems; escort instructions to bellhops; Keep records of room availability and guests' accounts, manually or using computers; Perform bookkeeping activities, such as balancing accounts and conducting nightly audits; Post charges, such as those for rooms, food, liquor, or telephone calls, to ledgers, manually or by using computers; Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to managers as necessary; Arrange tours, taxis, or other reservations for customers; Advise housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning; Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, guest registration, and travel directions, or make recommendations regarding shopping, dining, or entertainment; Clean and maintain lobby and common areas, such as restocking supplies and watering plants; Prepare basic food service, such as setting up continental breakfast or coffee and tea supplies; date-stamp, sort and rack incoming mail and messages. Front Desk Agents may be required to upsell guest rooms and promote hotel services. Should be able to stand and move for long periods of time. Must be able to speak and understand English, handle adversity with ease and diffuse issues that may arise with professionalism.
