- Offer description:
***RFI Response*** Concrete (Smoothing): Construction Laborers perform basic manual labor in support of concrete work. Duties include spreading, leveling, and smoothing freshly poured concrete using simple hand tools such as shovels, concrete rakes, screeds, hand floats, and brooms, under direct supervision. Laborers do not perform skilled concrete finishing, edging, jointing, decorative work, or make independent determinations regarding concrete placement or finish quality. All skilled concrete finishing is performed by separately qualified workers. Pipes: Construction Laborers assist with pipe-related tasks by carrying, positioning, holding, and supporting pipe materials and by backfilling trenches after installation. Laborers do not cut, connect, weld, seal, test, or otherwise install piping systems. All technical pipe installation and connection work is performed by skilled tradespersons. Cables or Wires for Electricians: Construction Laborers support electricians by carrying, staging, and placing cables, conduit, or sleeves into trenches or designated locations as directed. Laborers do not connect, terminate, splice, test, energize, or otherwise work on electrical systems. They do not perform electrician or electrician-helper duties. All skilled electrical work is performed exclusively by licensed electricians or separately qualified workers. Tools and Equipment: Construction Laborers use basic hand tools typical of manual construction labor, including shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, hand floats, screeds, and brooms. Laborers may use basic handheld power tools for site preparation and cleanup only. The position does not use electrical testing devices, specialized trade equipment, or machinery requiring trade certification. Scope and Classification Confirmation: The Construction Laborer position involves physical labor supporting construction activities and aligns with O*NET tasks for SOC 47-2061.00, including moving materials, assisting skilled workers, site preparation, and cleanup. The position expressly excludes duties associated with Electrician Helpers (SOC 47-3013), Electricians (SOC 47-2111), Plumbers (SOC 47-2152), Concrete Finishers (SOC 47-2051), or any other skilled trade. All skilled work is performed by separately qualified workers. ***Original F.a.2*** Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types. Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect and disassemble scaffolding, clean up debris and other waste materials, and clean or repair tools.
