- Offer description:
Temporary full-time positions are available in St. Martinville, Louisiana. The Sugar Factory Laborer/Material Mover workers perform various tasks requiring limited knowledge of sugar production processes in support of skilled workers in a raw sugar mill. The employees in this position will assist the other full-time personnel throughout the factory (i.e., industrial mechanics). These workers manually move freight and other materials in a sugar factory environment. Also, these workers stack material and maintain a clean work environment. By “maintaining a clean work environment”, the employer means the workers maintain the equipment freight and materials storage areas so the equipment is protected while creating a safe work environment. Physically remove equipment, tools, materials, and other items to enable assignments to be started or completed by other personnel. Leaving these materials disorganized or in high-traffic areas would increase the risk of injury to all workers in the sugar factory environment. These items are moved by hand, hand truck, and/or dolly. These duties must be performed during this period annually to prepare the mill for the upcoming Louisiana Sugar Harvest season. As these are the sugar mill’s Sugar Factory Laborer/Material Mover workers, the USDOL has always assigned the SOC code 53-7062 Laborers and Freight, Stock, and Material Movers using this exact job description. 40 hrs/wk plus OT. OT hours will vary and are not guaranteed. OT is based on a single workweek (paid every 2 weeks by check). The employer will make all deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law. Must be willing to work OT. No minimum education is required. No on-the-job training provided. One (1) month employment experience in job offered in a raw sugar mill is the minimum required.
