Workers will perform landscaping labor and grounds maintenance using hand and power tools. Duties include laying sod; mowing, trimming, edging, watering, fertilizing, mulching, aerating, weeding, and maintaining lawns and landscaped areas. Workers will plant, cultivate, prune, and trim ground-level trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, and other plants, attach support wires or stakes to newly planted trees, and apply mulch or straw for protection. They will operate equipment such as push and riding mowers, sod cutters, tractors, skid steers, chainsaws, pruning saws, trimmers, sprayers, and spreaders. Workers will apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders, and will install and maintain landscape features such as retaining walls, walkways, patios, fire pits, water features, ponds, rock gardens, and garden borders using mortarless interlocking concrete masonry blocks and hand tools. Additional duties include maintaining and cleaning sidewalks, driveways, fountains, planters, parking areas, and gardens; gathering and removing litter, debris, and waste materials from worksites; hauling and spreading topsoil, compost, mulch, or straw; and decorating landscaped areas with stones, plants, or other materials according to landscape designs. Workers will also maintain and clean tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning. Worker will be exposed to weather, noise, hot/cold temperatures and will need to wear common protective/safety equipment. The job will require the worker to have attention to detail, thorough in completing work tasks, integrity, and be cooperative, and responsible.
