- Offer description:
Crispy Critter Seafood, LLC is seeking ninety (90) seasonal full-time deckhand workers from October 1, 2025, to April 1, 2026, for the upcoming oyster season. One (1) month of experience is required; no formal education is necessary. Workers will perform duties aboard large commercial oyster boats operating in Louisiana’s marshland waters. Duties include assisting in deploying dredge nets into the water to scrape the bottom surface and collect oysters, raising nets filled with oysters and gently placing them onto the vessel deck, and repairing nets when needed. Workers will remove oysters from the nets and inspect, separate, and measure each oyster to ensure it meets the legal-size requirement of 3 inches and is healthy and alive. Once sorted, oysters will be cleaned, bagged, weighed, and labeled. When the boat reaches its 25-bag limit, the product will be transported to the port for pickup and delivery to the processing plant. Workers are also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe deck, handling ropes and equipment, and preparing oyster sacks for organized transport. The position requires standing for extended periods, repetitive movements, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds in wet and sometimes slippery conditions aboard a moving vessel. The anticipated employment will last 120 days or more. Employer guarantees to offer work for a total number of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the entire employment period. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Transportation for H-2B Visa workers and non-commuting United States Workers, including meals and lodging to the extent necessary to the place of employment, will be provided, or its cost to workers will be reimbursed within the first week of arrival. Upon completion of the work contract or when the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will pay for the worker's reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to return home or to where the worker initially departed. The employer will also pay reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to workers who will not be returning home due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employer will not pay for return transportation and subsistence to workers reported to have voluntarily abandoned employment. The transportation payment or reimbursement amount will equal the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily meals will be paid at $16.28 p/day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 p/day with receipts. Employer will have furnished accommodations available with equipped kitchens to prepare daily meals for a monthly fee of $130.00 per month, utilities included, if the worker chooses to accept the lodging offered by the employer. The employer will also provide tools, materials, and transportation from the central location and from housing to the work location and return transportation at no cost to workers. Workers who choose not to live at lodging provided by the employer and prefer to live elsewhere, the $130.00 lodging fee per month will not be deducted from workers' paychecks. H2B-REG-00009364
