Perform a variety of duties at traveling carnival. Set up, tear-down, operate amusement rides, food concessions, game concessions and/or novelty concessions. Details of tasks that may be involved in this position: May sell tickets & collect fees from customers; provide information about the facilities, rules and regulations; direct patrons to rides, seats or attractions; monitor activities to ensure adherence to rules and safety procedures; provide assistance to patrons entering or exiting amusement rides; clean rides, booths, facilities or grounds; inspect equipment to detect wear and damage and perform minor repairs, adjustments, or maintenance tasks, such as oiling parts; fasten safety devices for patrons, or provide them with directions for fastening devices; announce or describe amusement attractions to patrons to entice customers to games and/or other entertainment; and sell and serve refreshments to customers. This employer has a variety of food items that they provide (not all at a single event); typical preparation and equipment used are as follows: The worker who is preparing the batter would take a suitable container (as per instructions from the employer) and following the instructions printed on the bag, would pour the mix plus appropriate liquid into the container, and mix as per instructions, typically with a food service handheld mixer, otherwise known as a commercial immersion blender. During the production period, the same worker may remove the hot dogs that would be used for corn dogs from the packages, and push the wood skewer into one end using gloved hands, place these skewered hot dogs into a deep chafing dish and return them to refrigeration. Cooking of Funnel Cakes, Corn Dogs and Deep-Fried Oreos. All of these items would be cooked in deep fryers. The mobile food trailer would contain three deep fryers, such as the Empura EGF-45/55 LP Propane 15.5# Double Basket Commercial Gas Frier with 50-pound capacity, 120,000 BTU. The workers in this category would stand in front of the specific unit they oversaw operating. On one side of the unit there would be the raw materials (such as skewered hot dogs plus the corn dog batter; funnel cake batter and the funnel cake batter pourer; Oreos® and the Oreo Batter). Funnel Cakes, the workers in this job category would stand in front of an area (typically communicating with the public) asking what toppings the customer wanted on their funnel cake. The ingredients would be within arms reach, also in view of the customer. The worker would add the ingredients, using either shaker (powdered sugar), scoop or spoon. With powdered sugar (only or with a variety of toppings) Whipped Cream. Strawberry Compote, Raspberry Compote, Chocolate Sauce, Nutella Corn Dogs, the workers in this job category would stand at the front counter, communicating with the customer. After finding out how many corn dogs they want, would take the correct size serving tray and place the correct number of corn dogs into the tray. Would ask what toppings were requested (mustard/mayo/catsup) and put place the packets onto the tray with napkins and provide to the patron after payment. Deep Fried Oreos: the workers in this job category would stand at the front counter, communicating with the customer. After finding out how many Fried Oreos they want, would take the correct size serving tray and place the correct number of Fried Oreos into the tray. Would ask what toppings were requested such as strawberry or apple compote, whipped cream, powdered sugar, chocolate syrup and ladle, spray from a can, squeeze from a plastic jar, or shake from a shaker the requested toppings onto the oreos, along with napkins, and provide to the patron after payment.
