Sanitation operators work collaboratively within a team environment to address issues related to Clean-In-Place (CIP) units, ensuring prompt completion of the gasket change program, maintaining accurate paperwork, overseeing proper labeling and storage of chemicals, and timely execution of the Master Sanitation Program. They must be able to know at least 3 areas in the plant from the following list: RO, HTST, Cottage room, Packaging room, Cheddar room, Lower plant, Starter room. It is not uncommon for the employees to partially learn other areas of the plant if scheduling allows it. In areas such as the cheddar room the sanitation employees are also required to be able to assist in finishing and starting production for the day. Core duties encompass upholding Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), operating equipment following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), accurately completing relevant documents as per QA/SQF protocols, complete any MC program orders as needed, complete Master sanitation program in a timely manner, performing chemical titrations. They work on proper storage and labeling of chemicals, inspect equipment for sanitation compliance, operate CIP systems in areas of work, monitors equipment for proper sanitation, including breakdown and reassembly of equipment after cleaning. Conduct spot checks on chemical titrations and equipment and conduct basic repairs. This position requires the understanding of the role of the SQF Practitioner in ensuring that food safety decisions are made using a risk-based approach. All food safety issues and incidents are to be reported to the QA Department either directly from the employee or by the Supervisor. Performs all other duties as assigned.
