- Offer description:
***RFI Response*** Geosynthetic installers lay out large rolls (23'x500') of various types of plastic liners generally classified as geosynthetic materials (HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, GCL, etc). These materials are installed over large areas, 1-100 acres of land, and the rolls are bonded, or seamed, together with hand tools primarily using heat to bond the rolls ensuring a continuous, solid impermeable membrane for the protection of ground water. The locations for installation are typically landfills, power plants, industrial facilities, and wastewater treatment plants. A geosynthetic installer utilizes techniques such as ensuring proper overlap and layout of geosynthetic materials and uses hand tools such as a grinder wheel to scuff materials in preparation for seaming, a leister (heat gun) to adhere materials, and a wedge seamer to bond separate rolls of plastic together and then cut to length using a utility knife. After seaming, the installer confirms the integrity and strength of the bonded materials utilizing techniques and tools such as an air pressure gauge, tensiometer and vacuum box. ***Original F.a.2*** Install geosynthetic materials, including geotextiles and geocomposites, ensuring proper application techniques. Operate hand and power tools effectively and safely to facilitate geosynthetic materials installation. Seam liners to ensure watertight integrity and conduct vacuum tests to verify the quality and effectiveness of installations.
