Workers will be hired to prepare fields and crops before harvest. Applicants should be dependable, safety-conscious, and prepared to perform repetitive physical work in changing weather conditions. Workers will plant seedlings, young plants, and other crops by hand or with farm provided tools as directed; Clear fields of weeds, debris, rocks, old plant material, and other obstructions as needed before planting; Prepare planting areas by raking, leveling, shaping, and organizing rows or beds; Lay and secure plastic lining along planting rows, keeping it straight and properly positioned for planting; Assist with measuring and spacing rows and plants according to supervisor instructions; Carry, load, unload, and distribute plants, tools, supplies, and materials throughout the field; Workers will be trained to use hand tools and basic farm equipment safely and responsibly. This is hard, physically demanding work performed primarily outdoors. Applicants must be able to work safely in hot weather, direct sunlight, humidity, dust, dirt, and other normal farm conditions. Applicants must be able to stand and walk for long periods, including walking over uneven ground. This type of work requires frequent and repetitive bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and kneeling. The ability to lift and carry at least 40 pounds is recommended. Applicants should be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods and maintain a steady work pace.
