Worker will be performing duties related to SOC code 49-9098 Helpers—Mechanic Helper. This is a peak need to assist our full-time mechanic in re-building and overhauling equipment. This role requires manual physical labor inside a shop as well as outdoors in extreme cold temperatures and working in conditions such as ice, snow, rain. Under the guidance of the primary mechanic Job duties will include but are not limited to: Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning. Tend and observe equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation. Hold or supply tools, parts, equipment, and supplies for other workers. Adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand or power tools. Clean vehicles, machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas, and other objects, using hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment. Thaw Equipment -This may include the use of power-washers to remove dirt, debris, grease, snow, ice and foreign matter from equipment before repair. Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when rebuilds are complete. Adjust, maintain, and repair tools, equipment, and machines, and assist more skilled workers with similar tasks. Apply protective materials to equipment, components, and parts to prevent defects and corrosion. Prepare work stations for use by mechanics. Remove snow and ice from worksite to allow movement of equipment into and out of shop for overhaul and repair. Must speak and understand English.
