Workers will perform winter livestock duties on a beef cattle operation raising cows, bred heifers, calves, and bulls. Duties include: gathering, sorting, and moving cattle; weaning calves; working cows, calves, bred heifers, and bulls through chutes and handling facilities to vaccinate and administer treatments; daily feeding of weaned calves, bred heifers, cows, and sale bulls as separate groups, including moving and placing hay bales, processing and delivering rations, and handling mineral and supplements; observing newly weaned calves and all cattle daily for illness, injury, or stress and reporting or treating as directed; checking water sources daily and breaking and removing ice to keep tanks, waterers, and other water sources open in freezing weather; pushing and removing snow from pens, feeding areas, and travel lanes; bedding pens with straw and replacing wet or packed bedding; cleaning pens and removing manure and used bedding; preparing sale bulls for the annual bull sale, including sorting, conditioning, weighing, tagging, and handling bulls and preparing pens and sale facilities; assisting on sale day with moving, penning, presenting, and loading bulls for buyers; and maintaining and repairing fences, gates, pens, windbreaks, and livestock handling equipment. Workers may operate loaders, bale processors, or feed wagons, skid steers, and UTVs in performing these duties. Daily duties will vary with weather, temperature, and the condition and needs of the cattle, and workers may be moved between tasks and locations as conditions require. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
