Job requires operating non-CDL farm trucks and grain trailers to transport grain commodities from on-farm storage facilities and grain bins to elevators, markets, and designated delivery locations. Workers will load, secure, transport, and unload grain commodities; inspect trucks and trailers before and after use; maintain accurate load and delivery records; and perform routine servicing and cleaning of trucks, trailers, and related hauling equipment. Workers will assist with monitoring grain condition during transport and maintaining orderly traffic flow around loading and unloading areas. Duties include fueling trucks, checking tire pressure and fluid levels, cleaning truck interiors and exteriors, reporting mechanical issues to management, and using maps, GPS, or dispatch instructions to follow designated hauling routes. Workers must follow all roadway safety requirements and employer safety protocols while operating non-CDL farm vehicles. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, road, and delivery conditions. During the winter months, when field equipment is removed from operation, workers will perform the winterization, inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of farm equipment and agricultural vehicles to ensure they are prepared for the next production season. Duties include draining and replacing fluids; adding fuel stabilizers; disconnecting or removing batteries; lubricating moving parts; sealing engine and cab openings to prevent rodent damage; applying protective coatings to prevent corrosion; inspecting equipment for wear or mechanical defects; dismantling and reassembling machinery; servicing engines and major mechanical components; testing and repairing hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, and other operating systems; replacing worn or defective parts; fabricating or modifying metal parts in the farm shop when replacement parts are unavailable or require customization; welding, cutting, soldering, grinding, and using hand and power tools to complete repairs; applying paint or protective coatings; and cleaning equipment, tools, and work areas. Workers will also install, repair, and maintain agricultural property borders, including farm fencing used for livestock containment and farm operations; install and repair farm gates; construct or fabricate fence and gate components as necessary in the farm shop; and maintain related agricultural infrastructure. Additional duties include light maintenance and minor repair of employer-provided employee housing and related farm structures, including repairing walls, flooring, doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, fixtures, fencing, and other components necessary to maintain safe and functional housing for agricultural workers. These duties are limited to maintenance, repair, and incidental improvements of existing agricultural housing and facilities and do not include commercial or residential construction. During periods of snow accumulation, workers will operate snow removal equipment to clear snow from farm driveways, access roads, equipment paths, and other agricultural work areas. Workers may apply sand or salt to maintain safe walking and driving conditions and prevent disruption to normal farm operations.
