Nature of the Need: The employer operates a beef cattle feeding operation with a recurring, temporary need for additional livestock workers from November through August. This specific time frame directly aligns with the natural life cycle of the cattle herd, beginning with the fall calf roundup and concluding with the final sale of yearlings. Job Duties • Cattle Care: Feed livestock daily. Monitor health closely. Doctor sick animals. • Herd Processing: Round up calves starting in November. Process and vaccinate cattle. Prepare yearlings for sale through July and early August. • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on ranch machinery. Diagnose mechanical breakdowns. Repair broken equipment promptly. • Facility Upkeep: Clean and maintain feedlot pens. Clear debris. Ensure proper drainage. • Infrastructure Repair: Inspect fence lines regularly. Fix broken posts and wires. Maintain secure boundaries. • Feed Processing: Mix rations accurately. Load and distribute feed. • Livestock Transport: Assist with loading cattle onto trailers. Help transport livestock safely. Job Requirements • Experience: Minimum 2 months of experience in a beef cattle feedlot or ranch setting. • Skills: Mechanical skills, demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair agricultural equipment. Experience riding horses. • Physical Demands: Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. Prolonged walking, standing, and bending • Working Conditions: Extreme weather exposure. Outdoor work in snow, mud, and high heat.
