  All applicants must be able, willing, and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box A.3 & A.4. The percentage of apples which are produced and packed by Sunrise Orchards, Inc. is 100% and ZERO percent of apples are grown by other producers. Workers will be required to press apples into cider and pack apples in a packing house. Workers must be able to complete the tasks required to press and bottle apple cider. Cider-making duties may include: Setting up and operation of cider press, perform all tasks involved in the process of making cider, as well as cleaning up, and storing cider pressing equipment after pressing. Tasks include forklift operation to load bulk bins with apples onto processing equipment, operation of apple grinder, and distribution of and lining of apple mash onto press racks. Cleaning of the equipment is required after each cider run, including washing down equipment with water and cleaning out tanks with soapy water. Cleaning equipment also entails the use of a pressure washer to wash equipment and floors. Workers will pack apples according to the quality and the employer’s established methods. Workers will sort apples according to size, color, and grade before packing. Workers will line boxes, cartons, or crates with treated paper or cardboard. Workers will place apples in containers for storage or shipment. Workers will weigh packages, and stamp them with the grade, brand, and date of packing. Workers will operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer’s fields), and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver’s license, no worker will be rejected for not having a driver’s license. Workers will also perform general orchard tasks, including but not limited to: Pruning apple trees. Repairing apple storage bins. Repairing fences. Workers must have the knowledge and ability to prune, thin, and train apple trees, and be willing to work in varied weather conditions. Other duties will include driving a tractor and picking up brush from the orchard floor. Employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the worker to satisfactorily perform the tasks in this job order. Work requires long periods of standing, bending, and kneeling. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and be available to work Monday through Saturday. Workers must be willing to work in varied weather conditions. Workers will be compensated at the correct rate of pay for all hours worked, including when they are performing the employer’s obligation of driving. Employer will furnish workers, without cost, all tools and equipment required to perform duties assigned. Workers are required to work 7 hours shift within the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm from Monday through Friday, and a 5-hour shift on Saturday within the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm. This schedule totals 40 hours per week. Hours that may be offered, but are not required, include 5-hour shifts within the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. . This flexibility ensures workers can complete their required weekly hours while responding to daily production needs. Workers will not be scheduled to work a full 12-hour shift. Workers may offer additional hours beyond the standard schedule, subject to the mutual agreement of the workers and management. Workers will be provided with at least a 30-minute lunch break, staggered between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as determined by both the workers and management. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and must return to work after the 30-minute break.
