Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order and as instructed by their supervisors. Planting Squash: All crops. Worker will plant and/or replant as needed. These tasks will include repetitive and physically demanding shovel work. Worker may lift up to 60lbs. Worker may be required to ride a mechanical planter (training will be provided). Worker may be required to hand plant using tools such as a spade or hand trowel. Harvesting of Squash: Once at the picking location, doing a row at a time, workers will move down the rows plucking or cutting the vegetables from the plants and putting them in a container. Once the container is full the worker will take the container to the truck and dump the content. The worker will go back to his picking area and fill his container up again, repeating the process through the work day. Field & Packing House Packing: Workers will sort, grade, and pack squash in the field or packing house. Worker will inspect vegetables for quality, remove damaged produce, clean items, and carefully place them into boxes or crates. Worker will assemble packing boxes, label containers, and stack packed boxes onto pallets for transport. Field Maintenance: Workers will perform general field maintenance to maintain crops and work areas. Worker will weed rows by hand or hoe, clear trash, rocks, and debris from field paths, maintain plastic mulch, check surface irrigation lines, clean hand tools, and keep the field clean while following all food safety rules. General Farm Maintenance and Other Activities: When primary work is temporarily unavailable due to weather conditions, crop conditions, operational needs, or other lawful business reasons, workers may be assigned miscellaneous incidental duties directly related to the agricultural operation. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Such duties may include general cleanup of the worksite, farm property, and agricultural structures; weeding, trimming, digging, cutting, and removal of weeds, vines, debris, and trash from fields and fence lines; routine installation and removal of plastic mulch and irrigation drip tape; and basic irrigation inspection, maintenance, and adjustments as instructed by supervisors. Field sanitation activities may include cleaning, disinfecting, and performing routine sanitation and upkeep of harvest buckets, bins, trailers, hand tools, and similar agricultural equipment. Workers may assist with cleaning and routine daily upkeep of farm vehicles and agricultural equipment, including removing dirt and debris and reporting maintenance needs. Workers will not perform mechanical repairs, specialized servicing, or other skilled mechanical maintenance. Workers may assist with basic cleaning of common-use facilities as assigned during paid work hours to maintain safe and sanitary conditions. Workers will be instructed by supervisors in the proper methods for all assigned incidental duties.
