The Cattle Feeders duties are specific to caring for livestock during fall/winter/spring months. The worker(s) will be required to Cattle feeder will drive feed truck to distribute feed into feed bunks for cattle in the feedlot and on the range; may need to do equipment and tire repair to keep equipment operating. employee will carry/lift bags of salt and mineral weighing up to 100 pounds; physically break ice with shovel and/or spud bar in order to keep water supply open for livestock; Employee will drive side-by-side for moving cattle to various pastures feed livestock supplementary rations and mineral blocks with feeding equipment, will be responsible for clearing feed bunks of snow and general ranch areas as needed. Helping with calving, vaccinating, branding and processing calves will be required job duties. Cattle are turned out over summer months and do not require daily feeding. Employee will operate feed truck, pay loader, tractors, trucks, and various equipment, perform minor repairs and maintenance. Maintain existing fence lines and perform general cleanup of farm acreage. In the spring months preparing for farming will be underway, irrigating, planting, seeding and haying preparations will take place. Workers must be willing and able to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision. Worker must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Most duties are performed out-of-doors and entail exposure to extreme cold; snow, and wind; and herding hazards. Must be self sufficient in a winter blizzard situation. feeding work will have to be done despite adverse winter conditions. General supervision will be provided by the ranch owner. A minimum of 3 months’ experience is required. Drivers' License is required for hauling feed and back hauls for feed trip. Increased wage and or bonus may be possible depending on experience.
