At least three months work experience needed. Free drug and tobacco work zone. General ranch work assiting with care of cow/calf operation. Job duties include but not limited to preparing fields for planting; attaching farm implements like plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; operating tractors, sprayers, and other equipment; and engaging in shredding and aeriating pastures and harvesting hay. Workers may operate hand sprayers for pesticides and fungicides.Other responsibilities include adjusting and monitoring machinery, repairing and building fences repairing equipment, and cleaning stalls and pens. Animal care duties include feeding with a tractor and haybuster, examining livestock for illness or injury, monitoring feed and water tanks, repairing floats. Helping tract supplies. Workers may also patrol grazing pastures on ATVs or by vehicle, assist with animal births, administer medications or vaccinations as needed, and rotate livestock between pastures. Additional tasks may include spraying livestock with insecticides, cleaning equipment and facilities, maintaining inventories, transporting animals or supplies, treating animal injuries, seasonal mowing and weed eating, driving into town for parts, fixing flats, painting and repairing fences, cleaning working areas and cattle chutes, installing water tanks, and cutting firewood during winter. All activities are subject to seasonal and weather-related changes. This job requires extensive movement such as bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, overall strength needed to do the job. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
