- Offer description:
Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order and as instructed by their supervisors. Cabbage harvesting: Workers will harvest cabbage by lining up in designated cabbage rows. Workers will bend over each cabbage to cut. After cutting the cabbage, workers will inspect and trim. Workers will place trimmed cabbage into harvesting bags and empty the bags onto a stainless steel packing table that moves with the harvesting crew. Workers will perform harvesting duties in a continuous, steady workflow following the movement of the harvesting equipment. Planting of cabbage: A tractor will prepare planting holes in the field. Workers will obtain trays of cabbage plants from the truck and walk down the rows placing one cabbage plant into each prepared hole. When a tray is empty, workers will return to the truck to obtain another tray and repeat the process throughout the workday. Weeding: Workers will remove weeds from row middles using hoes and remove weeds growing around plants by hand. Workers will rake weeds and other field debris into piles and dispose of them as directed by the supervisor. Cabbage Packing: Harvested cabbage will be transported by truck to the employer's on-farm packing house, where workers will sort cabbage by size, label containers, and pack cabbage for shipment. Harvested cabbage may also be field packed as part of the harvesting operation. Note: The packing house is located on the farm, and more than 50 percent of the agricultural commodities processed are produced by the fixed-site employer. As an incidental activity, workers may occasionally drive farm utility vehicles or low-horsepower tractors solely for transportation within the farm or for pulling empty or lightly loaded farm trailers after receiving appropriate instruction and under close supervision. Such operation is incidental to the primary agricultural duties. Workers will not perform equipment setup, calibration, adjustment, maintenance, or repair. General Farm Maintenance and Other Activities: When primary work is temporarily unavailable due to weather conditions, crop conditions, operational needs, or other lawful business reasons, workers may be assigned miscellaneous incidental duties directly related to the agricultural operation. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Incidental duties may include general cleanup of the worksite and fields; weeding, trimming, digging, cutting, topping, and removing weeds, vines, debris, and trash from fields and fence lines; routine installation and removal of plastic mulch and irrigation drip tape; and routine inspection, repositioning, connecting, disconnecting, and removal of drip irrigation lines and micro-jets under supervisor direction. Field sanitation activities may include cleaning and disinfecting harvest buckets, field bins, harvest trailers, hand tools, knives, and similar field equipment. Workers may also assist with washing and removing dirt and plant residue from harvest trailers, field bins, and agricultural equipment used in field operations.
