General: Planting sugarcane by hand while working in groups and walking within an outdoor field behind a moving wagon. Overview: To plant sugarcane, workers will reach and pull to remove pre-cut sugarcane stalks that measure 6-10 ft long from supply trailer and manually place and straighten predetermined numbers of sugarcane stalks into an open furrow at specific intervals/overlaps while bending and stooping. Machetes will be utilized to chop stalks into approximately 24-36 inches lengths. Other Duties: Pick up dropped cane in fields. Use power equipment included but not limited to tractors, planters, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, power shears, chain saws, high lifts, forklifts, skid loaders. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction. Workers must assist with Good Agricultural practices policies. Qualifying candidates may drive vehicles to assist company with transportation of workers. Driving will involve picking up workers to and from different housing sites and the daily assigned work sites at the end of the day. Drivers are also responsible for filling the vehicle with gasoline, keeping it clean and completion of required documentation. Worker must have/be able to obtain and maintain throughout employment a valid driver's license: Class A CDL or equivalent. Must comply with all applicable requirements of USDOT regulations. Must pass a post-employment road test to gauge driving ability. Employer uniformly conducts a post-employment DOT physical, drug screen, background check and motor vehicle records check at no cost to the worker. Must have proficiency in English to communicate, read/comprehend traffic signage, and interact with roadway officials. All delivery drivers will be able to return to their residence or employer-provided housing within the same work day.
