Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order and as instructed by their supervisors. Planting of Vegetables: A tractor will prepare the fields by making holes for planting. Workers will retrieve trays of vegetable plants, including cabbage plants, from the truck and walk down the rows, placing one plant in each hole. When finished with a tray, workers will return to the truck to obtain another tray and repeat the process throughout the workday. Vegetable Sorting: After vegetables, including cabbage, are mechanically harvested from the fields, they will be placed on a conveyor belt where workers will sort them by size and quality. Workers will visually inspect vegetables for visible defects and signs of disease and ensure they meet employer quality standards. Workers may stack containers weighing up to 60 pounds, shovel bins, perform general cleaning, staple tags, and assist in the packing warehouse. Vegetable Packing: Harvested vegetables, including cabbage, will be transported to the packing house located on the farm. Workers will sort vegetables by size, label, and pack them according to employer instructions. Field Maintenance: Workers will install and remove plastic mulch, tie, stake, and prune plants, clean micro-jets, remove plastic drip irrigation lines, and remove dead plants and weeds by hand or using a hoe. Note: The packing house is located on the farm, and more than 50 percent of the agricultural commodities processed are produced by the fixed-site employer. General Farm Maintenance and Other Activities: When primary work is temporarily unavailable due to weather conditions, crop conditions, operational needs, or other lawful business reasons, workers may be assigned miscellaneous incidental duties directly related to the agricultural operation. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Such duties may include general cleanup of the worksite, farm property, and agricultural structures; weeding, trimming, digging, cutting, topping, and removal of weeds, vines, debris, and trash from fields and fence lines; routine installation and removal of plastic mulch and irrigation drip tape; and basic irrigation maintenance and adjustments. Field sanitation activities may include cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining, and performing routine upkeep of harvest buckets, bins, trailers, hand tools, and similar agricultural equipment. Workers may also assist with cleaning and performing routine operator maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment. Workers may be required to assist with basic cleaning and upkeep of their own employer-provided housing and common-use facilities as needed to maintain safe and sanitary conditions.
