- Offer description:
Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order Planting of cabbage: A tractor will prepare planting rows and create holes for transplants. Workers will remove trays of cabbage plants from the transport vehicle and walk the assigned rows, placing one plant into each prepared hole. When a tray is empty, workers will return to the vehicle to obtain another tray and continue planting throughout the workday. Cabbage harvesting: The cabbage cutters will line up in designated cabbage rows. Workers will bend, stoop, and cut mature cabbage using a hand knife. After cutting, workers will inspect and trim the cabbage according to supervisor instructions. Workers will place the cabbage into bags and then onto a stainless-steel harvest table that is continuously moved behind the harvest crew. Workers must maintain the pace of the harvesting operation. Vegetable Packing: Workers will sort harvested cabbage and other vegetables according to size, quality, and supervisor instructions; label and pack product for shipment. Packing activities will occur in the on-farm packing house and, when necessary, in the field. Weeding: Workers will remove weeds using a hoe from walkways and remove weeds growing around plants by hand. Workers will rake piles of weeds and debris from the growing area and dispose of them as instructed. Note: The packing house is located on the fixed-site employer's farm. More than fifty percent (50%) of the agricultural commodities packed are produced by the fixed-site employer. General Farm Maintenance and Other Activities: When primary planting or harvesting work is temporarily unavailable due to weather conditions, crop conditions, operational needs, or other lawful business reasons, workers may be assigned miscellaneous incidental duties directly related to the agricultural operation. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Incidental duties may include general manual cleanup of the worksite and agricultural structures; weeding, trimming, digging, cutting, topping, and removing weeds, vines, debris, and trash from fields and fence lines by hand or using basic hand tools; and the routine manual installation, repositioning, flushing, connecting, disconnecting, and removal of plastic mulch, irrigation drip tape, and micro-jets under direct supervisor direction. Field sanitation activities may include cleaning, disinfecting, and performing routine upkeep of harvest buckets, bins, trailers, hand tools, and similar agricultural equipment. Workers may also assist with washing and removing dirt and plant residue from farm vehicles, harvest trailers, bins, and equipment.
