Shuttle Drivers/Chauffeurs -5 temporary positions; approximately 4 months; job to begin 9/15/2026 through 1/15/2027. Operate vehicles to transport H-2A workers from various housing sites or designated pickup locations and bring them to the work site, an essential part of River Road Cane Growers, Inc.’s agricultural process in connection with the harvesting of a perishable crop, sugarcane. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, or an acceptable foreign equivalent, authorizing the lawful operation of the employer's 15-occupant passenger vans under applicable federal and Louisiana law. Transport workers from employer-provided housing sites to designated drop-off locations; at the end of the day transport workers from designated pickup locations back to housing sites. Morning pickup points are at approved employer-provided housing. Morning drop-off point is the Ag Equipment parking area. At the end of the workday, the centralized pickup point is the Ag Equipment parking area. Transport workers to make scheduled or planned trips to the bank, grocery store, laundromat, bus station, airport, Social Security office, or for medical appointments. Responsible for keeping assigned vehicles clean and maintained. Must check oil, water, and fuel levels daily. Vehicles used for the above-described transportation are three (3) Ford Transit Passenger Van XLT vehicles designed to transport up to 15 occupants, including the driver, leased from Enterprise and insured by Employer. Workers will be oriented and instructed on all aspects of safety. Failure to obey safety requirements may result in termination. They will also assist with simple daily vehicle maintenance checks (oil, water, tires, and fuel checks), filling water jugs w/drinking water for workers and ensuring sanitation measures are maintained throughout the day, such as clean drinking water, bathrooms and handwashing facilities available to workers. Ford Transit Passenger Van XLT vehicles are designed to transport no more than 15 occupants, including the driver. Additional duties may include general farm labor, washing and servicing Ag Equipment, and moving agricultural equipment on the employer's premises or between fields, but not on public roadways. Work will be done under extreme weather conditions such as heat, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, and wind. $14.84/Hr. 40hrs/wk. 8 hr shifts. Must be willing to work 7 days/week rotating shifts, 7AM-3PM, 3PM-11PM, 11PM-7AM. As with all agricultural work, it is influenced by weather. OT may vary, but is not guaranteed; three (3) months of experience in the job offered is required. Job involves extensive sitting, repetitive movements, and working outside in inclement weather. Once hired, workers may be subject to lawful pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, or random drug testing in accordance with applicable federal and Louisiana law and the employer's safety policies, at no cost to the worker. All work tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no charge. Housing and transportation provided to workers who cannot reasonably return to their permanent residence at the end of the workday; transportation and subsistence expenses to the work site will be provided by the employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract, or earlier, if appropriate. Employer agrees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ending on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. River Road Cane Growers, Inc. will provide employment to any qualified, eligible U.S. workers who apply to the employer until 50 % of the period of the work contract has elapsed which is November 15, 2026.
