- Offer description:
Workers will perform duties related to the care and management of livestock in a beef feedlot operation. Tasks include feeding and watering livestock, mixing feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions, and distributing feed using trucks, tractors, loaders, and forklifts. Workers will herd livestock to scales and enclosures, sort and segregate animals according to weight, age, and condition, and prepare animals for transport. They will walk through pens to monitor livestock health, examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and assist with routine animal health treatments, including spraying or applying disinfectants and insecticides. Employees will operate agricultural machinery such as tractors, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts to support feeding, hauling, and general livestock care. Duties also include maintaining and repairing equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, fences, water tanks, and other facilities. Workers will clean stalls, pens, and equipment and move livestock or equipment as needed throughout the yard. Workers will clear snow, ice and mud from roads and yard as needed to access cattle and feed alleys in the feedlot. Work is performed in a seasonal outdoor environment where weather impacts daily operations, requiring workers to perform tasks efficiently and maintain the overall upkeep of the feedyard and livestock facilities. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
