Workers will perform general duties associated with the care and management of cattle and the maintenance of the farm operation. Duties include monitoring cattle daily to identify sick, injured, or distressed animals and reporting concerns to the employer. Workers will observe livestock for signs of calving, assist with basic calving needs when necessary, and provide general animal husbandry to ensure cattle have access to feed, clean water, and proper care. Workers will assist with routine herd health practices including gathering, sorting, moving, restraining cattle, vaccinations, pregnancy checks, and working calves as directed by the employer or livestock health professionals. Workers may handle, sort, load, and unload cattle safely for movement between pastures, facilities, or farms. Workers will maintain pastures, fences, barns, and farm facilities to provide a safe environment for livestock. Duties include removing debris from pastures, repairing and maintaining fences, cleaning barns, livestock areas, equipment, and vehicles. Workers will operate farm equipment including tractors, skid steers, forklifts, hay equipment, and other agricultural equipment to complete livestock and farm-related tasks. Workers may assist with hay production including cutting, raking, baling, moving, and storing hay used for livestock feed. Workers will perform routine maintenance on farm equipment such as cleaning, checking fluids, greasing, and making minor repairs necessary to keep equipment operating. Workers may perform basic farm repairs including minor welding and upkeep of farm structures and equipment. Applicants must have 3 months of verifiable experience in the listed cattle duties and with operation of a 300+HP tractor to be considered for employment. All work will be performed according to the employer’s instructions and in a manner that ensures the safety and proper care of livestock. This is a drug free workplace, drug tests are performed upon incidence, accident, or suspicion. Failure or refusal of a drug screen is grounds for immediate termination.
