Usage of heavy equipment, tractors, ATV/UTV’s, vehicles, and also conduct simple repairs & regular maintenance. Perform animal husbandry tasks including: birth calves, vaccinate, brand, work, feed, water, euthanize downed animals, cosmetic dehorning, group cattle according to age & expected calving date. Mix livestock feed with mixer. Ride horse to gather, sort, move cattle. Tend to ranch animals, plant & harvest crops, repair farm structures & fences, clean & maintain animal housing areas & grounds. Facility maintenance (maintain/repair fences, barns, sheds, water troughs, tanks, ponds, working pens, traps) Operate & repair general farm equip (augers, post hole drivers, chainsaws). Operate cube wagon, keep bulk & creep feeders filled. Conduct regular pasture/brush management (remove weeds & brush, fertilize native grasses, plant seasonal forage, trim trees, plant food plots) Perform landscaping/lawn care tasks (mow entrances, irrigation repair/main, plant & care for ornamental trees, shrubs & plants). Conduct wildlife management (fill feeders, trap feral hogs & protect cows/calves from predators) Drive trucks & trailers to haul equipment, cattle, feed, supplies. Conduct and assist with artificial insemination (AI) procedures, including handling and restraining mares, Prepare, clean, and maintain breeding equipment and supplies, Monitor mares for estrus, pregnancy, and late-term foaling signs, Conduct routine and overnight foaling checks, Assist with foaling and notify management/veterinarian of complications, Perform post-foaling mare care, including monitoring for retained placenta or illness, Provide newborn foal care, including ensuring nursing/colostrum intake, Dip navels, monitor vital signs, and assist with early handling, Feed and water horses according to established schedules, Clean stalls, pens, and foaling areas, Assist with administration of basic treatments as directed (oral medications and injections where permitted) Must be able to safely handle horses, including mares and foals. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping. Involves lifting and carrying of 100 lbs frequently. May be required to take post hire random drug and/or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination. The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
